The Course

Start times: Walk 9am / Run 10am

Cooper Road

The course runs from Fire Hall #2 to Fire Hall #1. Basically, you'll do a 3.5km loop around the Welcome Woods neighbourhood before heading north on Redrooffs all the way to the finish. Route map and elevation on RunningAhead.com

The start is at Hall #2 (Fawn Rd at Cooper). Exiting the hall driveway, turn right onto Fawn, follow the curve left onto Southwood then immediately turn right on Eastwood. After 1 block turn left onto Alderwood and up the hill, follow Alderwood's left turn taking you back down to Southwood. Turn right on Southwood, then left on Cooper which takes you back to the start. Now turn right onto Fawn, veer left at the stop sign past the store (staying on Fawn), then right onto Lohn. Round the corner on Lohn, up the hill, turn left on Evans, then right onto Redrooffs. From here you stay on Redrooffs all the way to Hall #1 — past Cooper's Green. There's a net downhill on the way there but the last km is mostly uphill, so be prepared to truly earn your finisher's medal!

Run or Walk on the LEFT SIDE facing traffic except for the first portion, Fawn Rd to Southwood to Eastwood, where it's much safer on the RIGHT, due to the blind corner at the bottom of Southwood.

The course is accurately measured with a Jones Counter. Every km and all corners will be clearly marked. Marshals will be located at road crossings.

Fire Hall 1: finish Finish: Fire Hall #1, Redrooffs at Rutherford

Course Restrictions

NO DOGS allowed on course. Please leave your pets at home.

Use of headphones is discouraged. If you insist on using them, keep the volume low or use one earbud only. You MUST be able to hear approaching traffic and instructions from volunteers. THIS IS FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY on the roads.

Water Stations

There will be 2 water stations: at Evans Road and Redrooffs (3.5k) and just past Welcome Beach (7.5k).

Run and Walk Divisions

The Walk division (9am start) is ONLY for those who will take 90 minutes or more to complete the course. All others must start at 10am (Run division). Any 'walkers' arriving at the finish line before 10:30am will not be timed or included in the results.

If you need to switch divisions, this must be done by contacting us before October 20, or in person at late registration & packet pickup, at least 30 minutes before your new start time.

Parking

There is parking at both Fire Halls and on the roads nearby. Please arrange your own ride back to your vehicle. Suggestion: leave a vehicle at the finish and then carpool to the start.

Results and Awards

The race will be timed with a hand-held professional printer-stopwatch and manual recording of bib #'s. Display clock will be at the finish line.

Every finisher gets a medal!

Finish line

IMPORTANT! to help us get accurate results:

  • Wear your bib on your CHEST where it is clearly visible.
  • STAY IN ORDER OF FINISH after crossing the line, until the volunteer has written down your bib #.
  • ONLY those who are registered and wearing their race bib can cross the finish line. Everyone else must go around! (e.g. spectating friend, spouse, kids)
  • Do NOT cross the finish line more than once.

Awards and draw prizes will be presented following the run. $25 PaceSetter Athletic Gift Certificates to the first overall male and female.

Stick around for post-run BBQ and draw prizes, and to support the award winners!
