Race Results & Reports

Loon Lake Race, October 8, Powell River

A gorgeous crisp sunny day with morning mist on the lake greeted participants in the 22nd annual Loon Lake Race. Despite confirmation of this year's event happening quite last-minute, 40 runners and walkers came out to support Special Olympics Powell River. Over $1100 in pledges was collected in 2 short weeks! Winners of the 13k Run were Byron Fader of Powell River and Katie Cochran of Vancouver; the 7k was won by Chase Wilson and Brooklyn Vanderkemp, both of Powell River. Full results can be found here.

Halfmoon Bay Volunteer Fire Department 10k, October 1

Another damp cloudy morning giving way to bright sunshine — perfect conditions for a 10k race. Up from last year's participation numbers, 56 runners and 3 walkers made the trek from Fire Hall 2 to Fire Hall 1 in Welcome Woods and along Redrooffs, with the infamous hill past Cooper's Green challenging everyone in the final km. Nigel Young from Langley was in a class all his own, finishing first overall in 41:35. Halfmoon Bay's Teresa Nightingale was 3rd overall and first female in 46:39. Full results can be found here.

PaceSetter 5-Dollar 5K Series Summer 2017 Event #5, September 10, Gibsons

We were lucky with the weather once again, with a cool cloudy morning giving way to sunshine. Thirty-one participants came out to test their speed and many ran their fastest yet in the series! Full results can be found here.
